Nook Store

The Essence: Bringing together men's fashion and funky local street art, the Nook Store perfectly captures the Novocastrian vibe.

The Facts: Newcastle males, if you're looking for a place to shop with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and exclusive threads, then look no further.

Located on a 'nook' in Hunter Street Mall, the independent men's fashion outlet was brought into existence in 2012 as a part of a Renew Newcastle project to help support emerging, local designers.

Since its opening the retro retail store has expanded its stock to include a range of Australian-made goods. From accessories and fashionable streetwear, some of which is produced by owner Brodie Bannerman’s own label, Once Undone, to the timeless hair products of UpperCut Deluxe. You can even grab yourself a skateboard to help you cruise around the rest of the mall.

This hub of creativity showcases more than just clothes, it also turns into a exhibition space for Newcastle artists to show off their work. Artist/designer Grizzle has hosted a series of his work in-store, and also has a range of merchandise and stickers available to snap up.

Whether you’re a designer looking for somewhere to display and sell your work, or simply roaming the streets looking for some fresh wardrobe pieces, put this joint on your list of places to check out.

The Find: Personalise any flat surface you own and support the in-store brands by walking to the front counter and picking up a four pack of funky stickers, and at only 4 dollars, who doesn’t stickers!
